AISC/RCSC Structural Bolting Clinic for Ironworkers
A  Virtual Lunch 'n Learn Webinar

August 12, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. EST

Applied Bolting Technology, the USA’s only manufacturer of quenched and tempered Direct Tension Indicators (DTIs), will be hosting a virtual lunch 'n learn clinic for Ironworkers that will focus on all modern structural bolting methods as they are to be performed per specification and how they are performed in the field.

This clinic will illustrate proper and improper techniques affecting structural bolting, including how to assure materials being installed are of proper quality and condition. There will be practical demonstrations of...

  • The difference between torque and tension utilizing a Skidmore‐Wilhelm tension calibrator, construction grade installation tools, and structural fasteners.
  • What happens when Turn-of-Nut and TC bolting goes right, and what happens when something goes wrong, which will teach attendees how to tell the difference. This is important because like torque, Turn-of-Nut and TC methods may not work, even when following the current AISC/RCSC Specifications exactly.
  • How DuraSquirt® DTIs work and why they are such an efficient bolting option. Since their tension indication media lasts for months, there is zero need for feeler gaging while adhering to the Specification for Structural Joints Using High-Strength Bolts, even if the DuraSquirt® DTI was modularized on one continent and shipped to another or bolted onsite 8 months ago.
